Dreaming
Each night Manas reflects on your conversations with it; on Monday it suggests what to finish or automate.
Sleep is when your brain sorts the day: it keeps what matters and lets the rest go. Dreaming does the same for your work with Manas. Each night Manas reflects on the day you talked with it and writes a short private note. Every Monday it reads the last two weeks of notes and suggests what to finish or automate.
Dreaming is a built-in scheduled chat. It's personal: it runs as you, only in your DM with Manas, never in a channel. It's off until you turn it on.
Turn it on
Right after you press Connect, Manas sends you a DM: Manas can work for you in the background, with Turn on Morning brief and Turn on Dreaming. The same card is on the Manas Home tab, under Scheduled chats, for the ones you haven't turned on yet.
Press Turn on Dreaming. It then shows at the top of your Scheduled chats with a Built-in tag.
Each night: one short note
Each night, from 02:00 IST, Manas reflects on the day.
- What it reads: only your Slack DM with Manas: your messages, Manas's answers and your scheduled-chat results. Never the Morning brief or Dreaming's own posts, never channels, never chats in the web app.
- What it writes: one short private note, at most 2,000 characters: what you asked for, what you committed to (with a due date if you said one), patterns that repeat, and threads left open.
- Days you didn't talk with Manas: no note.
- How long notes are kept: 60 days, then they're deleted.
- Who sees them: nobody else. Notes aren't posted anywhere in Slack; Manas stores them for you.
Every Monday: suggestions
Every Monday at 10:30 IST, Manas reads your notes from the last 14 days (not your raw chats) and posts suggestions in your DM. Each comes with one button:
| Suggestion | Button | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Finish something left open | Help me finish | Asks Manas, in the thread, to help you finish it |
| Something you ask for again and again | Create scheduled chat | Shows the usual card with Create, Test run and Cancel |
| Steps you repeat | Save as a skill | Asks Manas Builder, in the thread, to save it as a skill. Nothing is saved until you confirm the card |
Each suggestion also has Not useful: it's never suggested again.
- A suggestion you ignore comes back at most twice more (three times in all).
- One you accept isn't repeated.
- These are suggestions only. Nothing happens unless you press a button.
- On a Monday with no notes, nothing is posted.
If one of your commitments is due today or overdue and the Morning brief is on, the brief shows it in one line: From Dreaming: ….
Check it or forget everything
/manas dreamingtells you whether Dreaming is on and how many notes you have./manas dreaming forgetdeletes all your Dreaming notes and suggestions right away. Dreaming stays on unless you turn it off.
Change its time or turn it off
Find it at the top of /manas schedule list or the Home tab's Scheduled chats, with its code (8 characters, like k7m2p9qx).
- Turn off or Turn on: the ⋯ menu on the Home tab, or
/manas schedule pause/resumewith the code. - Change when suggestions arrive:
/manas schedule timewith the code and any schedule, for example/manas schedule time k7m2p9qx every Friday 16:00. - Test run (only you see it): the ⋯ menu or
/manas schedule testwith the code. With no notes yet, it says so. For a built-in, Run now is a test run too.
You can't delete it (Delete turns it off and tells you so), and you can't edit its instructions: they're built into Manas. It doesn't count toward your 10 scheduled chats.
