What it is
You can add files to any chat with the paperclip next to the message box. The model reads them along with your question, so you can ask "What does this invoice say?" or "Summarise this report in five points".
Your files are kept in Kapiva's own private cloud storage, not on a public site.
When to use it
- Ask about a screenshot, a photo of a label, or a chart image.
- Pull the key numbers out of an invoice, a quote or a report.
- Summarise, compare or check a PDF.
- For sums, cleaning or charts from a spreadsheet, use Run Code instead.
How to use it
- Start a chat and pick a model. For PDFs, pick Claude.
- Click the paperclip next to the message box.
- Choose how the file is sent. Manas offers a few upload options:
- The option for the model itself (it names the provider): sends the file as it is. Use this for images and PDFs. It is the only way a scanned PDF, which is really a picture of pages, can be read.
- Upload as Text: Manas takes the text out of the file first and sends only the text. Use this for Word and Excel files, and for PDFs when you use ChatGPT.
- Pick your file. Wait for it to finish uploading.
- Type your question and send it.
What works with which model
- Images (JPEG, PNG, GIF or WebP, up to 5 MB each): Claude and ChatGPT read them.
- PDFs up to 10 MB: Claude reads them as they are. ChatGPT cannot read a PDF sent this way; use Upload as Text with ChatGPT.
- Word and Excel files: use Upload as Text.
- PowerPoint files do not work. Save the deck as a PDF first and attach the PDF.
Good to know
- Files you attach are sent again with every message in that chat. A chat with many large files gets slower and can hit a size limit. Start a new chat for a new document.
- If Claude refuses a PDF (too many pages, password-protected, or too dense), every later message in that chat can fail too. Start a new chat, or attach the PDF again with Upload as Text.
- Remove the password from a PDF before you attach it.
- Deleting a file in Manas also deletes it from storage.
If something goes wrong
- "This request exceeds the bridge's 48MB limit…"
- The files in this chat add up to too much. Start a new chat, or turn off Resend Files in the conversation settings. If you only sent text, make it shorter.
- Every message in a chat fails after you attached a PDF
- The PDF was refused. Start a new chat, or attach it again with Upload as Text.
- ChatGPT says a document was omitted
- ChatGPT cannot read files sent as they are. Attach it again with Upload as Text, or ask Claude.
- A scanned PDF comes back empty or as nonsense
- It was sent as text, and a scan has no text in it. Attach it again with the option for the model itself, using Claude.
- A PowerPoint file fails
- Save it as a PDF and attach the PDF.
- The upload itself fails
- Check the file size limits above, then try again. If it keeps failing, tell the Manas team which file type and size.
